After working overtime, my buddy, Adam Rivera, and I headed down to Fashion Valley Mall (a Simon Mall) to catch a glimpse of one of our favorite TV personalities, Alton Brown of the Food Network show "Good Eats". Alton was the feature presenter at an event called Simon Super Chefs Live!
Alton was finishing up his first show just as we arrived. We each purchased his book "I'm Just Here for the Food: Food + Heat = Cooking". After, we cued up for a chance to meet Alton, get his autograph and snap a photo...
Click image for more photosAn hour and fifteen minutes later we made it to the front of the line; it was 2 pm. Just as our luck had it, Alton had to stop signing momentarily to do another presentation. At 2:30 pm, we finally had our chance to meet him.
Just as we finished snapping photos with Alton we bumped into Jennifer's cousin Rodney; his wife, Gina; and daughter, Chloe. They enjoyed his second presentation on avocado ice cream.
We stuck around for Alton's last presentation on hand pies. Like on his television show he was entertaining, witty and always left his audience with a gem of food knowledge or a cooking technique they didn't know before the show. Did you know that mangos are part of the cashew family?
The day was a scorcher and where we were sitting we had no shade, however without hesitation, I would do it again.
