Sixth Day in Paris - Giverny

We woke up early to catch a day tour to Giverny and Versailles. We headed out to the town of Giverny; it is about an hour bus ride northwest of Paris. The peaceful ride out to the countryside gave me some time to recover from the night before.

When we arrived at Giverny it was partly sunny, the air was crisp, and all you could hear was the wind blowing through the tree leaves. This was a welcome contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city.

Claude Monet is Jen's favorite painter, so naturally we had to visit his home in Giverny. Monet enjoyed painting outdoor settings. The gardens around his home became the subject of many of his later works. He had two Japanese gardens the flower garden and the water garden where he painted the famous Water Lilies.

After visiting Monet's home we had lunch at Restaurant Le Moulin de Fourges. Moulin means, "mill" and Fourges means, "fork" as in fork in the road. The restaurant was near an old water mill along the Epte River. We had a three course meal served with red wine and bread.
